Oxygen index test method
The oxygen index refers to the oxygen concentration of Oxford fabric reaching the ignition point. Generally speaking, the higher the oxygen index of Oxford fabric, the higher the oxygen concentration required for fire, and the less likely it is to be ignited; on the contrary, the lower oxygen index of Oxford fabric makes it easy to reach the ignition point under low oxygen concentration. Oxygen index less than 21 is a flammable material, and an oxygen index above 28 is a flame retardant material.
Flame-retardant Oxford fabrics are divided into one-time flame-retardant, semi-permanent flame-retardant and durable (permanent) flame-retardant.
Disposable flame-retardant Oxford fabric: It uses water-soluble flame-retardant finishing agents, such as sand, tungsten acid, etc., and applies them evenly to the fabric by dipping, padding, brushing or spraying. It becomes flame retardant after drying. It is suitable for items that do not need to be washed or are washed infrequently, such as curtains, sunshades, etc. It is economical and easy to handle, but it is not resistant to washing.
Semi-permanent flame-retardant Oxford fabric: refers to the finished fabric that can withstand 10-15 times of gentle washing and still has flame-retardant effect, but is not resistant to high-temperature soaping. This process is suitable for interior decoration fabrics, E-train seats, covers, etc.
Durable flame-retardant Oxford fabric: can be washed more than 50 times and can be soaped. It is suitable for frequently washed textiles, such as work protective clothing, firefighting suits, tents, bags, household items and other items.
